The real estate in the area has taken a hit over the last few years. During the boom in 06′ and 07′, Promontory saw a huge influx of spec homes and 2nd vacation homes from buyers all over the world. There was so much building going on that it was just not sustainable in the long run. When everything went downhill starting in 08′, housing prices started taking huge hits. Many homes were selling for under half of what they were once listed for, foreclosures were popping up everywhere. There was just too much distressed inventory in the area to keep the pricing steady.
Now, as of 2011, housing prices seem to have stabilized in the area as much of the distressed inventory has been cleared out. Investors have bought up most of the bottom end properties and lots. I see a very strong future for the area and would strongly recommend anyone looking for a golf community in Park City, to consider the Promontory area in their search.
