5 Things To Do In Park City After COVID-19 Ends

Posted by Ben & Stan Fisher on Tuesday, April 21st, 2020 at 1:37pm

If you are counting the days until you are permitted to get out of the house and to put the shelter-in-place days in the rearview mirror, you are in good company. In Park City Utah and throughout Summit County, residents were asked to stay at home in late March until at least May 1. Visitors were also asked to stay away during that period of time. Restaurants, shops and other venues have closed their doors to the public. The ideas below are assuming the best case scenario we will see for Summit County, Utah if we open up for normal summer activities.

The shelter-in-place orders have had a harsh effect on many people’s lives, but the good news is that some areas are now preparing to re-open. Park City Utah is the perfect place to relax and to enjoy life to the fullest once the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions have been lifted. While Park City is a well-known winter vacation spot, it is a year-round destination that provides opportunities for entertainment, adventure and more throughout the year. There are a few Park City Utah activities and attractions that you will not want to miss.

Enjoy Free Concerts at the Deer Valley Resort Amphitheater (We Hope!)

Every Wednesday throughout the summer season, you can head to the Deer Valley Resort Amphitheater to enjoy a live concert. These are free concerts that are held outdoors in the evening, so you can take in gorgeous mountain views at sunset while you enjoy the beautiful weather with your best friends or family members. Bring your own blanket as well as a cooler full of drinks and snacks to enjoy while you listen to the concert.

This is only one of several free music events that you can enjoy in Park City Utah this summer. For example, most Thursday evenings, you can enjoy a live concert at the Newpark Amphitheater. This music series, which is known as the Mountain Town Music series, features genres that range from Americana and bluegrass to rock and more. The amphitheater is located next to the Swaner Nature Preserve, which makes it easy for you to extend your outdoor experience with a scenic hike.

Get an Adventure Pass

If you have big adventures in mind for your free time in Park City Utah, you need to get your hands on an Adventure Pass. The pass gives you access to many outdoor attractions and activities at Park City Mountain Village and at Canyons Village that are perfect for adults and kids alike. At Canyons Village, you can enjoy disc golf, a gondola ride and a putting course with your favorite people while you take in the fresh mountain air and beautiful views. Between the two villages, you can ride a mountain bike or take the Crescent Express. When you get to Park City Mountain Village, you can enjoy activities and attractions like the kids’ ropes course and zip line experience, gem panning, the Legacy Launcher, the climbing wall, the alpine slide, the Flying Eagle zip line, a miniature golf course and the Mountain Coaster.

Stroll Down Historic Main Street

There is never a bad time to stroll down Historic Main Street in the downtown area. Art galleries, restaurants and bars, shops and even the Park City Museum are available for you to tour and to explore at your leisure. If you visit Main Street on the last Friday of the month throughout the summer, you can enjoy the Last Friday Gallery Stroll, which features open access to more than 20 local art galleries that are all located within walking distance of each other.

Throughout most of the day on Sundays all summer long, Main Street is transformed into the Park Silly Sunday Market. At this event, the street is closed for traffic, and attendees can stroll from tent to tent to check out art exhibits and a wide range of goods. Food booths and plenty of live performance are also available. The entertainment lineup changes weekly, so you can have a new experience every weekend.

Visit Utah Olympic Park Utah

The Utah Olympic Park was constructed to host the Winter Olympic Games in 2002, and the many world-class facilities that were used by elite athletes at the time are now open for you to explore and to use at your leisure. In the summer, the Nordic ski jump area is used for downhill tubing adventures and for thrilling zip line experiences. The facilities also include snow-free bobsled runs, a challenging ropes course and many other special activities. You can have a great time watching others try their skills if you are not up for the challenge yourself. You are also invited to tour the on-site museum at no cost.

Reconnect with Nature at the Armstrong Trail

You can enjoy the better of a beautiful day in Park City at the Silver Star Café and Armstrong Trail. Silver Star Café is one of the hidden gems in Park City Utah, and it is open for brunch, lunch and dinner throughout the week. Take advantage of the covered patio to take in fresh air while you dine. The menu is loaded with treats like wood-fired pizza, craft cocktails and more. If you visit the Silver Star Café on Thursday, Friday or Saturday, you can listen to live music while you eat.

Either before or after your meal, hop on the Silver Star chairlift for access to Armstrong Trail. This trail has a challenging initial incline, and your effort will be well-rewarded with stunning views on relatively flat terrain at the top of a hill. After you enjoy the open, expansive views, the trail takes you inside a dense canopy of trees for a diverse experience.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been difficult for local Park City Utah residents to bear, and it has dramatically impacted travel plans for many people who otherwise would have enjoyed spending their spring months enjoying all that the area offers. The good news is that the current situation will not last forever. In fact, the restrictions may be lifted fairly soon with any luck. Once Park City Utah is open again, incorporate these fun attractions and activities into your summer plans to make the most of your free time in Utah's most popular mountain resort town.
