Hiking In The Middle Of January

Posted by Ben & Stan Fisher on Saturday, January 14th, 2012 at 10:03am

We are having an interesting winter here in Park City Utah. Snowfall has been sparse for an entire month and the resorts are starting to feel the pressure. This small ski town survives on the ski industry and with the snowfall being the worst it has been in many years, people are started to get worried. I think most of us have some sort of weather forecasting website on our bookmarks right now just waiting to see what is to come.

While the skiing hasn't been particularly good by any means, the warm weather and lack of snow have made it great for hiking. I must say, this is the first time since I have lived here that I can takemy dog for a hike (without snowshoes) in the middle of January. I took a few shots the other day while on a hike above Pinebrook where I live currently which offers some great single track trails for summer and winter activities.

The snow is sure to come, but we will still make the most of things until it does. Once we start getting the Utah powder that we are known for I plan on putting up some great powder skiing and snowboarding videos so stay tuned!
