Yesterday, the Park City Mountain Resort released a new app they have been developing to further engage consumers visiting the mountain. I must say, I pretty impressed with the functionality they have developed into the application. We have all seen the skiing and snowboarding applications on our smartphones that use GPS information to track our movements, but PCMR has taken it one step further on their branded application. This is a great move to greatly improve the user experience among visitors to the mountain.
What can this app do? PCMR says:
- Plan: using our unique MyMountainPlanner personal mountain tours and real-time conditions
- Track: record live statistics including number of runs, total vertical, maximum speed and distance traveled
- Share: share on-mountain stats, photos and status updates from the Resort with your social network through Facebook and Twitter integration
- Reload: add additional days of mountain acceess to your lift ticket
The application offers real-time conditions, GPS enabled statistics for your movements on the mountain, and the ability to reload tickets to your pass without waiting in line. In order to do so, you must have a PCMR eStore account and a new RFID lift ticket that will work in the new gate system they are now using.
With a very dismal winter season currently, resorts must do everything they can to continue to engage visitors in a unique way to drive further business. With a unique user experience and added convenience to tourists visiting, PCMR has done made that happen.
